Brad I took a short drive Saturday, and I found a number of interesting tidbits to share--
First, the horror we met on the way out the back door. Evidently, a nice fresh hatching of maggots popped out early that morning......trash cans are REALLY gross!
Some nifty mushrooms in a yard in Moline. They're like a miniature forest!
More mushrooms--this time surrounding a grave in East Moline's Resthaven Cemetery.
Backwashed muck along the Rock River near Barstow. The flooding has washed a lot of trash & gunk into the swollen river, and this yuck will be deposited on the banks as the water recedes--makes for nasty cleanup! By the way, it's just this sort of filth that Xstream Cleanup tries to help get rid of (see X-Stream Cleanup , below).
Also found in the backwash in a ditch near Barstow--MILLIONS of mosquito larvae. Look closely--you might have to click on the pic to blow it up. This is just a tiny piece of the ditch, and they were swarming like this along the whole length.
Red Dog Run, a golf course where our neighbor Gary works. The "course closed" sign is a bit unnecessary.......
The MorBark machine, sighted in Moline. The purpose of this machine seems to be to mill down shredded bark & wood to a finer consistency--voila, mulch!
An unfortunate truck in a substation near the Moline Target. Notice how the rear tires have mired down. Even with the gravel, the ground is very soft (thanks to the rain). This poor guy had a very bad day.
I couldn't end this post without sharing another horror pic with you. We pulled in to the gas station at the Davenport Wal-Mart on Sunday, and I saw this goof. Since he's an employee, I'm guessing fashion sense is NOT a requirement of employment. At least he's wearing nice blue undies, not just the boring white.........
