Mom & I took a daytrip up the Mississippi on Saturday, intending to browse through Pulford Opera House (see post below). But I had to show you a couple shots of the fabulous scenery in the area around Savanna, Illinois.
The Mississippi is quite wide & shallow in the area, and is home to many wetland creatures. Great Blue Herons come here to breed & nest in the spring, my favorite time to visit.
The day we went to Savanna, there was some sort of biker show going on (of all the days we could have picked to go, it had to be the same day the bikers picked.....). Most of them were gathered at the only Harley place in town, Poopy's. I had to get a shot of the sign, because I wasn't sure if folks would believe there was such a place. There is a restaurant, Harley mechanic, free camping (for the budget minded biker), and of course, tattoos.
There are several conservation areas here, including this one, possibly my favorite--the Frog Preserve.
Here's a nice shot of the Frog Preserve Pond. I guess if I were a frog, I'd be pretty happy here.......
