Not As Gross As The Last Post!

Here I am having my HIDA scan. I had to lay there for two hours..... I was injected with a radioactive tracer material, which took an hour to be processed through the liver--during which the gall bladder filled with the stuff. I was then injected with a substance that caused the gall bladdrer to contract, as if I'd eaten a fatty meal. Then I had to lay another 45 minutes while pictures were taken at intervals. A radiologist then measures how much the gall bladder shrinks over that time period. The point of the test is to see if the gall bladder is functioning properly.

I'd already had an ultrasound done of the pesky gall bladder, and there were no stones. But Dr, Chin said that only shows us that it LOOKS good, not that it FUNCTIONS right. If it's not working right, you can expect a blog post in the near future of me going to the hospital to bid my troublesome gall bladder farewell!

Many thanks to Kelli from Nuclear Medicine for making my stay as pleasant as possible, under the circumstances. And also thanks for her excellent photographic skills!
