Short update--I was in the ER again this morning, the fourth time in less than two months. The results of my HIDA scan were available, and the doc showed me the good/bad news. Normally, the gall bladder empties between 80% & 90% during the test--anything above 30% is still in thye normal range, but low functioning. Mine was 6%. BINGO! Looks like gall bladder issues! This ER doc sent me up to see a surgeon right away, and she has me scheduled for surgery to remove the pesky organ on Friday.
Apparently, my gall bladder problem isn't the more common problem with stones in the gall blader, but rather a problem with the gallbladder structure or nerves that impair its ability to contract and release bile. The long name is chronic acalculous gallbladder disease. The treatment is the same, however, for most any gall bladder issue--GET IT OUT! I'm all for that, since doing so relieves all symptoms in about 98% of patients.
Sit tight--I will have my mom & Brad take pics on surgery day to post here. Sorry, doesn't look like I can get pics of the actual surgery.....but I don't suppose you really want to see that!
Thanks for your prayers~! ^_^
